Touch is integral to every style of bodywork and healing. This two-day class blends lecture, discussion and guided exercises with plenty of hands-on practice to develop and refine palpation skills. On the first day, working with inanimate objects, living tissues and subtle pulses, we will use strategies and techniques from world-renowned doctors and educators to enhance our awareness. Then, we will use our new skill to evaluate the cardiac pulse and respiratory movements for signs of dysfunction or pathology. On the second day, our examination of skin, fascia and muscles will flow seamlessly into treatment with results that will boost your confidence as a therapist. If you expect palpation to be boring, I think you will be surprised.
The study guide includes exercises and activities we do in class as well as excellent references so you can continue to expand and evolve your skills after you leave. Our goal is not to add to your knowledge but rather to transform your practice. Whether you are a student, an experienced therapist or even a massage instructor, you will find growth, insight and inspiration in this weekend adventure.
